The Ancient city of Syracuse & Ortigia Island. This city was founded by Ancient Greek Corinthians around 700BC. Syracuse emerged as one of the most important colonies of " Magna Grecia ". Once described by Cicero as " the greatest Greek city and the most beautiful of them all ", it later became part of the Roman republic and Byzantine Empire. We will arrive to Syracuse towards the Island of Ortigia about 10.30am. the Island is a very charming and picturesque site, we begin our visit with Open Local Market fish & Vegetables where you still can see the oldest uses Arab-Sicilian, then a viewpoint of the Apollo Temple, nearby local market, from where you stroll around the narrows streets and alleys of this quaint and idyllic centre . Once we'll reach the main square Duomo can visit a Cathedral, this in origin was a majestic temple dedicated to the Greek Athena God. This shrine is a magnificent Doric style from the first half of the fifth BC. during the Byzantine era, this temple was transformed to a Christian Basilica which facade overlooks a flight of stairs in Piazza Duomo, another brilliant example of baroque architecture in the world, currently this Basilica present to us three different settlement (Unique in the World).
